2013 Inauguration Fashion

Iconic. Perfection. These are just some ways to describe the fashion of the First Lady Michelle Obama. The entire Obama family walked into the White House with poise and grace looking more radiant than ever at their last and final inauguration for President Barack Obama.

Michelle is wearing a gorgeous coat and dress by NYC designer Thom Browne, a belt from J. Crew and boots from Reed Krakoff.

Elegance and a great sense of fashion are a few of the many things the First Lady has passed down to her daughters. They looked like such polished young ladies yesterday.  Malia was wearing a J. Crew plum peacoat with a blue frock underneath. Her younger sister Sasha also went with a pop of color wearing a purple sleeveless dress with a matching peacoat by Kate Spade, and a necklace as her statement piece.

The Obamas were not the only ones who looked amazing yesterday. Beyonce blew us out of the water yet AGAIN with her Pucci dress and Dior coat. She went above and beyond with over 2.5 million dollars worth of emerald accessories. She looked simply breathetaking. Jay-Z didn't look too bad either.

There was more fashion to celebrate during the Inauguration Ball. Michelle changed into a beautiful red gown by Jason Wu, the same designer who made her dress for the 2009 ceremony.

The Second Lady Dr. Jill Biden also look fabulous during the ball wearing a silky blue Vera Wang gown.

Also dressed to the nines were performers Alicia Keys and Jennifer Hudson; both looked awe-inspiring.

Congratulations to the Obama family, I wish them a successful term and look forward to the upcoming fashion they have to show us!

The ladies of cinema kept it very elegant at the 2013 Golden Globes. Looking classier than ever this year, with high necklines and strapless sweetheart gowns (both appearing to be huge trends on the Red Carpet) these ravishing beauties stole the show. The leading ladies of the night set the bar high for the upcoming Oscars, let's recap the fabulous night by highlighting the best dressed of the evening.

Elements of Fashion

Street fashion is so inspiring. It is so amazing to see how people take various approaches to similar looks. The one thing I love the most about it is the fact that it's real people, wearing real fashion. So I did some research and came across these street trendy gals!

Let's start from top! These fabulous winter accessories not only keep you warm, but you look chic while wearing them.

An over sized hat is playful, and not to mention very comfy. It is easy to throw on when running errands or for just simply hanging around.

Turbans are making their way into day to day wardrobe and this makes me ECSTATIC. I am very guilty of wearing these, they are by far one of my favorite pieces.

Warm fluffy knits make the winter bearable, so continuing downward, we have winter tops.

Graphic tees are not just for summer, adding a toasty scarf and a cardigan allows it to become transitional and can be worn all year round.

A simple grey sweater is also a "must have". It allows you to play up the accessories, for instance an animal print scarf or a colorful bag. Feeling daring? Wear both at the same time!

Our hands need some love too. These accessories add a quirkiness to the drab colors we tend to lean towards on gloomy, cold winter days. Have fun with your wardrobe, just because the sun isn't shining doesn't mean your clothes don't have too!

It is NO secret I have an obsession with accessories. By adding hardware it characterizes the final look.

This season it's all about the socks! They don't only keep your toes nice and warm, but they can be really fun to coincide with jeans, leggings, and even dresses!

Knit socks look really great with a pair of heels....
or even with a distressed boot!

I hope you feel inspired by all of these looks, now it's your time to shine! Each of these looks can be recreated for less by visiting your nearest DoubleTake location. Once you have your winter wear tweet us a picture @doubletake

New Year, New Look

It is time for a fresh start! Out with the old and in with the new! Onward into 2013 with a bright new outlook and a wardrobe to match it.

The "Little Black Dress" has many faces. It is sexy, classic, and versatile. It can be worn alone, or as you can see here paired with a cropped lace blazer. The silver accessories jazz it up a bit and make it fun and flirty. You will be turning heads with this look! (to the left DT BCBG Blazer $75, Rebecca Minkoff Dress $109.75)

Textures are HUGE this season, especially in brocade. A two piece is also an option and will be a hit this New Year! I paired this Gucci sweater with a sparkled collar to add a touch of texture and pizazz! (DT Mischen skirt $88 retail $310) (Gucci sweater DT $220)

If you really want to make a statement, go all the way...with a sparkly skirt that is! From work straight to a party, you can dress it up or dress it down, this skirt is ideal for the the new year.
It adds an enchantment to this look that will have everyone mesmerized, or that might be the spiked egg nog? Either way you will be the life of the party!  I paired a simple white collared shirt with a muted colored cardigan. This ensemble is the perfect mixture of classic and fun! (to the left Wendy B. cardigan DT $49, BB Dakota skirt $17.00)

I hope these looks inspire you for the up and coming New Year. From our DoubleTake family to yours we wish you the happiest and healthiest 2013. Be sure to tweet us your #NewYearlooks to @doubletakecon

You're Such a Stud!

From Marc Jacobs and Alexander Wang to Alexander McQueen, there is no doubt that these fashion industry icons have nailed trends year after year. Each of these designers, as well as many others, have a lot in common. They all know how to use studs and embellishments that fit any fashion type, from a "prepster" to a rock and roll diva, studs are a must have this season!

Hardware on shoes, handbags, jeans, and shirts, add an edge to any look. I mean honestly, how can we forget the re-birth of Chloe's MUST HAVE "Susanna" boots??

Even top designers like Burberry, Givenchy, and Versace have taken this look to the runway  and introduced  stud couture with a classy twist.

This is one of my FAVORITE bags from Burberry...

 .....a stud-crazed piece and I LOVE it.

This has every element I look for in a bag. Gold on black hardware, a small handle, with a longer strap to wear as crossbody (if need be), and it's Givenchy...need I say more?

Rachel Zoe also knows how to add a bit of that Rock N' Roll flair to an ordinary evening bag. The slight touch of studs with the chain handle took this from ordinary to extraordinary without breaking the bank. (DT $90) http://shop.edoubletake.com/rachel-zoe-black-leather-fold-over-flap-studded-shoulder-bag/

Now lets get down to the nuts and bolts of your wardrobe. Accessories are fun but why not add that bold statement to your clothes. Here is a great pair of Versace studded dress pants (DT $210). When paired
with a simple sweater and collared shirt.... it adds that slight touch of edginess!

It should come as no surprise that studs are here to stay because they are versatile and sexy. Studs can be found literally everywhere, add them to a casual, everyday look for a bit of glam or  dressing down an evening ensemble. Send us a picture in your most FAB studded outfit and let us see how you work with them! @DoubleTakeRBank #wearestuds

Only Slighty Obsessed with Denim...

In 1969, a writer for American Fabrics magazine said, “Denim is one of the world’s oldest fabrics, yet it remains eternally young.” I could not have said it better myself! Denim will forever be a classic, a garment we all indulge in and an absolute staple that we build our wardrobe around. The perfect pair of jeans can tell the story of your whole outfit, and from the looks of my closet, I can write an entire novel.

This week I am giving you my top three denim "must haves" for any wardrobe, personal style, and any shape.

It's time to let your inner Charlie’s Angels shine ladies, because first on my list is a great pair of flare jeans. Modern flares are fitted past the knee and begin to widen just at the bottom of the calf. I think they look best with a slouchy, oversized sweater, or a fur (or faux fur) vest. Dark denim wash is appropriate for a casual work day and can transition right into happy hour! Grab your favorite pair of Jackie-O shades, a large bag and you're ready to go.

I paired these Citizen of Humanity jeans (retail at $175,DoubleTake price $52.50) with a faux fur vest, and a large black leather Falor handbag (retail at $395, DoubleTake price $110)

If the current day Farrah Fawcett  is not your cup of tea, I would suggest trying the laid back “Boyfriend Jean." I love the loose fit in the hip and leg, worn with a well tailored blazer, blouse, or even a basic t-shirt. It's the perfect (cheeky) mix of masculine meets feminine. I couldn't pick just one way to wear them, so here are just a few ways to pull them off. As you can see, whether you’re a mom on the run, or an A-list celeb, "boyfriend" jeans can work for you!

Last, but certainly not least, the biggest trend to hit the racks this Fall, colored denim. I'm really glad they are making an appearance in every fashion magazine because they are SUPER playful, add a punch to your wardrobe, and can match pretty much everything in your closet.

Some simple tips on how to wear:

  1. Try it with a neutral- bright jeans would look awesome with a white button-down dress shirt, a sheer black silk shirt, or a cream-colored cardigan sweater
  2. Colorblock- pairing solid-colored, bright pieces together.
  3. Pair it with a print- Whether it is Polka dots, stripes, floral prints, animal prints

So what are you waiting for??? Grab them while they are hot! If you would like to show us how you wear your denim, tweet or instagram us a picture at @doubletakebtq #doubletakedenim. I’ll be on the lookout!
