From the office to the holiday party!

When I am at work and am anticipating an event I need to head to right after, I always get anxious. I am forever thinking about what to wear, going home and changing, and arriving unfashionably late! Just thinking about it is giving me the chills. So I say "Self! What if you could wear what your already wearing, but bring that little extra special something along with you to throw on before heading out the door!", genius ...I know.

So I came up with looks you can wear to the office, as well as your company's holiday party.

Tuxedo blazers with structured trousers.

If you commute to work you can bring the blazer on a hanger, and keep it in the coat closet until you are ready to head to your party, or keep it in your car, but this is such an easy way to spruce up an outfit.

As far as the trouser goes, wearing something that has a pattern or pop of color is just enough for work and play.

Shimmer

Poof! The glittery shimmery fairy just stopped by and sprinkled a magic touch into your closet that has your co workers  head's turning as you walk into that party.

Okay..no she didn't, but shimmer is always great for a holiday shindig. I find embellished skirts paired with a  motorcycle jacket are the perfect blend of sweet and sassy, or a blouse for an extreme feminine look.

Leather and Lace

If you're going to an open bar in NYC, or a nice sit down dinner,  you can wear leather and lace. A  lace dress with opaque tights and a leather jacket is one of favorite things to wear in a pinch. It is comfortable and cute enough to wear to work, but also dressy enough to wear out. I always keep a deep lipstick in my bag to make the look a bit more vampy. POW! We just packed a punch.

You can accomplish all these looks without breaking the bank. At DoubleTake we pride ourselves on giving you the latest trends by top designers at the lowest prices. Let us see your holiday looks, possibly put together by one of our stylists, and tweet the look to @DoubleTakeCon #DTholidayattire

Loving Layers

My favorite thing about the colder season is layering. Every layer has a function and we wear them for a reason. You may even have some of these staple pieces in your very own closet! So here is my list of "must haves" for layering.

1. A bright colored coat.
Let's face it, your outerwear is the first thing anyone is going to see from the months of October-March, so why not have it pack a punch? For example this gorgeous BCBG overcoat is a great statement piece.

2. Skinny Jeans.
If you don't already own a pair, then you have been living under a rock for the past 10 years, but it's ok, I'll let it slide. These are great to wear with  basic flats or a pair of boots. I always find it's easier to get them into a boot the more tapered they are on the bottom. I am a huge fan of 7 for all mankind.

3. Cashmere Sweaters.
These look amazing with ultimately anything. Whatever your style is, whether you like wearing skirts, leather or printed pants, this sweater can be worn with all of them! These are just some of the gorgeous cashmeres we have ranging from brands like Juicy Couture, Bloomingdales, and Robert Rodriguez (along with so many more).

4. Knee high boots.
These are great for the office or a night out on the town. Change up the look by wearing a stacked heel or a flat boot. You can wear them with a dress or a pair of jeans, whichever fits your personality!  These boots are in our Ridgewood store for UNDER $200!

You can wear these looks all together or create your own layered look! Send them to us via twitter @doubletakecon #lovinglayers. All of these looks can be found in our Ridgewood location.

Winter Blues

Don't let them get the best of you, instead play along !! Blues are everywhere this Fall. I feel like it's the perfect POP of color to help brighten our spirits. Cobalt blue especially has really been catching my eye. You can either indulge by draping yourself from head to toe, or take a quick dip by adding a simple colored accessory like a scarf or a hat.

I picked out this gorgeous Stella McCartney dress paired with a stunning Marni overcoat. You could also do a basic look by wearing a blazer that focuses on the color theme like this Randy Kemper jacket.
If that is still too much of a color blast for you, try taking a cobalt blue Gucci shoe to wear with an all black outfit.

If you are anything like me I love when my accessories are the statement piece, so for me this Coach bag and Asprey clutch are home runs!

Whichever way you decide to wear this color will be a hit! Send us your pictures @doubletakecon #winterblues

Dos and Don'ts of Fall 2013

HELLO my little Fashionistas!! I have been in hibernation, but have no fear I have come out of my writing slumber to give you the Dos and Don'ts of Fall 2013. The LAST thing I want is for you to become a victim of fashion. So step out of your comfort zone, spice up your wardrobe, and take tips from these latest trends.

DO a cool leather!

I paired this leather Joie jacket with Free People jeans, and a basic Equipment shirt. This jacket is chic and sexy, and the buttons on it really pack a punch!

 DO a military look!

Going green , not just for the planet, but also for our closet. Pairing a grey jacket with an army colored pant is the perfect combo!!  I thought this Marc Jacobs jacket, and Acrobat sweater worked really well with the Blank NYC Jeans. This entire outfit is UNDER $300, and looks like a million bucks!

DON'T be afraid to wear white in the Winter! It's all the rage this year!

I paired this darling Nanette Lepore jacket with this amazing Louis Vuitton Suhali Le Talentuex bag. The way they compliment each other is perfection.

This is only a taste of what is to come this season, but for now enjoy each of these trends! DO tweet us your version inspired by these looks to @doubletakecon #DOdtStyle.

PUNK: CHAOS TO COUTURE

Hollywood didn't hold back at this years Met Gala, focusing on the "punk" theme of the night. I personally had a few favorites of the night, like Nicole Richie in TopShop and Sarah Jessica Parker in Giles Deacon with a head piece by Philip Treacy.

These woman really went all out, from head toe. Speaking of head to toe, Kim Kardashian was literally decorated in a not so flattering floral pattern, including a pair of shoes and gloves, that matched her dress. I will let you be the judge!

Let's take a look at most of the amazing fashion from the night.

Amanda Seyfried in Givenchy

                                          Emma Watson in Prabal Gurung

Leslie Mann & Kate Upton in DVF

                                                  Jennifer Lawrence in Dior

Kristen Stewart in Stella McCartney

Gwen Stefani in Maison Martin Margiela

Heidi Klum in Marchesa

                                                       Sienna Miller in Burberry

Anne Hathaway in Valentino Couture

                                            Taylor Swift in J.Mendel

Jessica Biehl in Giambattista Valli

                                            Jennifer Lopez in Michael Kors

Blake Lively in Gucci

                                                  Jessica Alba in Tory Burch

Claire Danes in Oscar de la Renta

                                                                              Beyonce in Givenchy

                Minka Kelly in Carolina Herrera

Dakota Fanning in Rodarte

Miley Cyrus in Marc Jacobs

Katy Perry in Dolce & Gabbana

Ashley Greene in Marchesa

My favorite look from the entire night goes to Rooney Mara. The bold lip was a perfect nod to the "punk" theme. Her flawless skin, perfect brows, and sleek hair really pulled the whole look together. She looked simply amazing in this elegant Givenchy gown.  Well done Ms. Mara!
